Brent provides practical guidance on regulatory, compliance, corporate and transactional matters for financial institutions. He advises banks on a wide range of issues such as bank operations, including lending, deposit taking, and new products and services. He regularly prepares and file notices and applications with regulatory agencies, and frequently speaks with federal and state agencies regarding legal issues affecting our financial institution’s clients.

Prior to Kennedy Sutherland, Brent served as legal counsel for Extraco Banks where he specialized in turning complex legal and regulatory issues into understandable, plain language advice and practical solutions to legal and regulatory problems. Among other things, Brent worked on resolving and mitigating fair lending risks, developing new banking products, delivering banking services electronically, and vetting new vendors. He has experience in many areas, including:

Before entering the legal profession Brent worked in commercial real estate lending at Zions Bank. His experience in credit analysis, servicing, and lending operations gives him a valuable perspective for delivering practical and usable advice for developing new products and resolving regulatory problems.
